TUSKET – While the Minister of Economic Development continues to bury his head in the sand, southwestern Nova Scotia continues to suffer at the hands of the NDP government.

North Sydney – Cape Breton North MLA, Cecil Clarke, is pleased the provincial government has supported the Sydney Harbour dredge initiative.  The provincial government committed $15.2 million towards the $38 million cost of the dredge.
 

Halifax – Progressive Conservative justice critic, Murray Scott, is demanding that the NDP and Justice Minister Ross Landry implement the eleven recommendations on courthouse security that was commissioned by the former PC government in November 2007.

SYDNEY MINES – Communities across Nova Scotia are paying tribute to miners today in recognition of Miners’ Memorial Day. 

Truro - Colchester North MLA, Karen Casey, is calling on Truro-Bible Hill MLA, Lenore Zann, to address the news reported today that a local call centre in Millbrook is closing its doors this September.

Halifax – Acting Progressive Conservative leader, Murray Scott, is demanding that Premier Dexter take immediate action to address what can only be described as a "hijacking" of the Public Accounts committee.

TUSKET – On Thursday morning, a group of local young people will set out to raise awareness and funds for the IWK Health Centre by biking from Yarmouth to Halifax, in an event organized by youth, for youth.

NORTH SYDNEY – Marine Atlantic has reached an agreement to charter two new vessels, which will have a positive impact for passengers and commercial users of the route between North Sydney and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Halifax – Progressive Conservative Leader, Karen Casey, respects Auditor General Jacques LaPointe’s position on not making public the names of the four former Members and one current Member whose files were turned over to the RCMP on May 12.

Today, Auditor General, Jacques LaPointe, released the findings of his forensic audit. He has determined that four former Members and one current Member of the House of Assembly may have committed illegal acts related to their constituency expense claims. According to the Auditor General, those files were turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) last Wednesday, May 12.

Truro – Progressive Conservative Leader and Colchester North MLA, Karen Casey, is not buying the excuse from Truro-Bible Hill MLA Lenore Zann that there is not enough provincial money to fund the Truro Civic Centre now.

TUSKET – The Municipality of Argyle is set to receive nearly $4,500 in emergency preparedness funding.
