Political Career:
First elected to the House of Assembly in a by-election in March 2001, and re-elected in 2003, 2006 and 2009. Cabinet duties have included Minister of Economic Development, Minister responsible for Nova Scotia Business Incorporated, Innovation Corporation, NS Film Development Corporation, Water Development Corporation and the World Trade and Convention Centre, Minister of Energy, Speaker of the Legislature and Government House Leader. Mr. Clarke has served as Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Minister responsible for the Human Rights Act, Minister responsible for the Regulations Act, Minister responsible for the Year of the Veteran (2005) and Minister responsible for Part II of the Workers' Compensation Act.
