INVERNESS, NS – Inverness MLA Rodney MacDonald is pleased to see almost 15 kilometres of new pavement coming to his constituency. MacDonald says tenders published today for new paving are vital components of the former PC government’s infrastructure plan.
“The PC government recognized the need for infrastructure upgrades in Inverness County and across the province,” said MacDonald. “The projects announced today show that the plan we put in place is working because these projects will provide jobs and help spur the local economy in Inverness.”
The work announced includes three kilometres of repaving along the Cabot Trail from Pleasant Bay to MacKenzie Mountain, almost one kilometre on Pleasant Bay Harbour Road and some further paving on Pleasant Bay United Church Road, Hinkley Glen Road and Angus Moore Road. The paving of Red River Road from the junction of the Cabot Trail to the end of the road for 9.7 kilometres is cost shared with the federal government.
MacDonald says he is glad to see the new government following through on the PC government’s commitments. “I hope they continue to see the value in the economic stimulus program that we put forward,” the PC MLA said.
“Right now the most important thing for the government to do is to get the economy moving again and our plan was designed to do just that.”
