INVERNESS, NS - A world class training simulator at the NSCC's Nautical Institute will improve the quality of education offered to students and better prepare them for their future in marine professions said Premier Rodney MacDonald.

The federal government announced today that they are bringing the simulator to the institute.

The MLA for Inverness said the NSCC is at the forefront of training Nova Scotians for tomorrow's jobs.

"It is expected that global marine traffic will increase in the coming years and qualified mariners will be required to help position Nova Scotia and Canada to prosper from that opportunity," said MacDonald. "I am pleased the federal government was able to help us build this program."

MacDonald added that the NSCC's Nautical Institute has a fine reputation and the government investments like today's will ensure the quality of education received at the Port Hawkesbury location is second to none.

The federal government will also transfer funding to the Province of Nova Scotia to modernize the simulator. The simulator will be used by the Nautical Institute for training and certification of seafarers.
