Focus of meeting: the hardship of raising a family with today's high costs

HALIFAX, NS – The high cost of raising a family in Nova Scotia will be the focus of a town hall meeting on the South Shore hosted by Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie.

The public meeting will be held at the Bridgewater Fire Hall at 7 pm on Thursday, February 16th.

"Families have been hit hard by the highest taxes in Canada, rising power rates and jobs losses, especially in rural Nova Scotia," said Baillie. "Nova Scotians are finding it hard to make ends meet because of the NDP's higher HST and higher power rates."

"We want to hear from South Shore residents about what needs to change to make a good life for their family affordable again," continued Baillie, noting that recent reports show that wages in Nova Scotia had the lowest growth in Canada. "Too many families are working harder and taking home less and less."

Members of the PC Caucus will also meet and visit with local job creators and daycares.

Baillie says a PC government will encourage job creation by getting the fundamentals right: balancing the budget, lowering taxes, eliminating unnecessary regulation and adopting an energy plan that integrates economic and environmental needs.
