HALIFAX, NS – Argyle MLA Chris d’Entremont says the $1 million investment in the Rodd Grand Yarmouth Hotel and Convention Centre is a welcome development, but the money wouldn’t have been needed in the first place if the NDP had not made the short-sighted decision to end ferry service between Yarmouth and the United States.

“I’m glad to see this kind of investment is being made in the Rodd Grand and it will help,” said d’Entremont. “But the NDP are just bad at making spending...

HALIFAX , NS – Today in Question Period PC MLA Chris d’Entremont called on Community Services Minister Denise Peterson-Rafuse to clarify the NDP government’s position on private childcare services in Nova Scotia, but  she cast a dark shadow over the future of private day care.

Halifax, NS – Premier Dexter should immediately remove one of his key economic advisors from his government-appointed positions for misleading a legislative committee and Nova Scotians.

“One of Darrell Dexter’s key economic advisors has misled the Law Amendments Committee and such actions should have consequences,” said PC MLA Chris d’Entremont. “The people the Premier has chosen for important economic advisory roles must be held to a high standard, but that standard has not been...

HALIFAX, NS - Progressive Conservative House Leader Chris d'Entremont says it was low, even for the NDP, to try and stop French debate on Bill 102 in the Legislature last night.

During debate on an amendment to Bill 102, Acadian Affairs Minister Graham Steele rose and tried to tell the Chair of the Committee how to do her job and then proceeded to chastise the member for Richmond for exercising his constitutional right to speak in his native French language.

"Not only are the...

Do the right thing’ and oppose the NDP’s harmful labour law

HALIFAX, NS - Lunenburg County NDP Members of the Legislature, like Pam Birdsall and Gary Ramey, are putting the NDP ahead of jobs by supporting a harmful new labour law in the face of widespread opposition from small business owners, major employers like Michelin and Clearwater and organizations representing tens of thousands of job creators in Nova Scotia.

“Elected NDP members of the...

Nov 30 2011

HALIFAX, NS – Small business owners planning to come to Halifax to speak out against the NDP’s new labour laws had their scheduled time switched to today all of a sudden.

Presenters originally scheduled for Thursday were told this morning to come to Halifax for tonight if they wanted to have their say.

“This is exactly the kind of disrespectful attitude toward job creators in our province that has become the trademark of the NDP,” said PC Law Amendments Committee member Chris...

Three more NDP MLAs benefit by having their own roads paved

HALIFAX – A second cabinet minister and two additional NDP MLAs have benefitted from road paving in front of their home addresses.

A total of four sitting NDP MLAs and the NDP MP for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour all saw their own roads paved or chip-sealed this year by the Nova Scotia government.

HALIFAX, NS - Progressive Conservative Health and Wellness critic Chris d'Entremont says the NDP have broken a key election promise, leaving Nova Scotians wondering which promise the NDP will cast aside next.

“The NDP thought the promise to keep Cobequid open 24/7 was important enough to specifically make it a line item in their 2009 campaign platform,” said d’Entremont. “But today, that commitment was broken and patients that rely on Cobequid for health services are left with much...

Hospital leaders line up to disagree with Dexter

HALIFAX, NS – Progressive Conservative Health and Wellness critic Chris d’Entremont says NDP Premier Darrell Dexter and his health minister are trying to mislead Nova Scotians about the impact of their three per cent cut to hospitals.

“The Premier and his health minister are the only people who believe cutting frontline health care will not affect patients,” said d’Entremont. “The NDP has taken the lazy approach. Anyone can tell...
