NDP continue to target front lines of education
Feb 10 2012

HALIFAX, NS – Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie says Education Minister Ramona Jennex should be sent back to school if she thinks a $13.4 million cut to education won't impact the classroom.

“Today, the Minister lectured Nova Scotia’s school boards on what they can’t do but provided no suggestions on what they should do,” said Baillie. “The way to lead is to set an example from the top. The NDP should have done their homework and provided leadership as to where school boards could make cost reductions.”

On average, boards are expected to cut 1.3 per cent of their funding for the 2012/2013 year. The South Shore, Cape Breton and Strait boards will actually see 2.1 per cent cut from their annual budget.

Baillie says a PC government would show leadership in education funding and find cost efficiencies by going line by line in administrative and non-teaching related costs.
