Disaster relief needed in SW Nova Scotia

TUSKET – Argyle MLA Chris d’Entremont is calling on the government to provide disaster relief to a local community that has been hit by massive flooding.

“This is the second time in six years that Quinan has been hit by flooding like we are seeing today,” said d’Entremont. “The substantial rainfall we have seen over the past few days has washed out bridges, rendered roads impassable and forced people from their homes. These families need help sooner rather than later.”

d’Entremont toured the community earlier today to see first hand what local residents were experiencing.

“I would like to have answers for these families soon so when the water begins to subside, we would have disaster assistance forms ready for them,” said d’Entremont. “I am calling on the Emergency Management Office to move fast. Let’s begin the process to rebuild and hopefully get life back to normal for families as quickly as possible.”
