Baillie: NDP cause “electric shock” for families
HALIFAX, NS – The NDP’s approach to providing Nova Scotia with power has caused the highest month-over-month hike in consumer prices in Canada, says Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie.
Statistics Canada data released today show that prices in Nova Scotia have risen twice the national rate to 0.8 per cent in January, driven by a notable increase in electricity prices in the province.
“Today’s news is proof that the NDP should immediately order a cost-benefit analysis of the Lower Churchill megaproject to compare it against other options,” said Baillie. “We need to make certain that it is the best investment for Nova Scotia but Premier Dexter is refusing to act.”
“NDP electricity policies are expensive and costing families more,” said Baillie. “At a time when Nova Scotians need help making ends meet, the NDP are making that job harder.”
Baillie says a PC government will put all electricity generation options through a thorough analysis and share the results with Nova Scotians.
